The resort is designed to capture the magic of Europe that Walt Disney and his wife Lillian fell in love with once upon a time. Upon arrival, you'll be welcomed home by a striking façade. From the grand archways and porticos to the tower and terraces, Disney’s Riviera Resort is a modern masterpiece of imagination, with each detail drawing upon the influences of Europe and the Mediterranean.

This resort is a beautiful marriage of European influences and Disney delight. Throughout the resort you'll discover a unique art collection celebrating beloved Disney Characters and icons, influenced by the works of master artists who found inspiration along the European Riviera. One of our favorite areas is in the archway to the Skyliner station where you’ll find two gorgeous mosaics depicting beloved scenes from Peter Pan and Rapunzel.

Although this is a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Timeshare resort, anyone is welcome to book a stay as either a “room only” reservation or part of a Disney World vacation package.

The Pros

• Skyliner Access: One of the biggest advantages of staying at Disney’s Riviera Resort is the convenient access to the Disney Skyliner transportation system. Hop on the gondola and soar above the parks, enjoying scenic views along the way.

• Fabulous Dining Options: From Mediterranean-inspired cuisine to classic Italian dishes, the dining options at Disney’s Riviera Resort are sure to satisfy even the most discerning foodies.

• Unique Accommodations for Larger Families or Groups: With multi-bedroom villas, the resort caters to larger families or groups, providing ample space and privacy for everyone.

• Themed Pool with Slide and Splash Play Area: Families with kids will appreciate the fun-filled pool with its exhilarating water slide, and the whimsical splash play area inspired by grand European fountains.

The Cons

• Smaller Lobby Area: One aspect to consider is that the lobby area of Disney’s Riviera Resort is comparatively smaller than the grand lobbies found in many of the other Disney World deluxe resorts. While this may not detract from the overall experience, some guests who appreciate spacious and opulent lobby spaces might find this a minor drawback.

• Higher Room Prices: As with most villa resorts, the rooms at Disney’s Riviera Resort are among the higher-priced options on Disney property. While the luxurious accommodations and amenities certainly justify the cost for many guests, budget-conscious travelers might want to explore other Disney resort options to find a better fit for their budget. • Location: Unlike some other villa resorts, Disney’s Riviera Resort is not directly adjacent to a Disney World theme park, Disney Springs, or other deluxe resorts. However, this disadvantage is easily mitigated by the resort's easy access to the Skyliner transportation system, which efficiently connects guests to the Epcot resort area, the lively Boardwalk entertainment district, and not one, but two Disney theme parks: Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot. The convenience of the Skyliner makes exploring various destinations within Walt Disney World a breeze, offsetting any potential concerns about the resort's specific location.

Our Opinion - We’ve really come to appreciate tower style hotels with close-in dining and recreation now that our extended family has little ones, an adult with an auto-immune disorder, and mobility-restricted great grandparents. And we love, love, love the Skyliner! The resort has so many dining and activity options, including an on-site character breakfast, that a resort day here is a delight. But, the kitchens and kitchenettes are handy when you don’t want to go to a restaurant for every meal. The price tag here means we might choose a different hotel when we will be spending most of our time in the theme parks. However, it is worth the splurge if relaxing and enjoying a lovely and inviting resort is just as important to you as time in the theme parks.

• Tower Studio Unit – Specially designed for 2 Guests, these one-of-a-kind Studios are a marvel of efficiency and luxury. Built into the wall, you’ll find a microwave, small refrigerator, drawers, and a cleverly hidden pull-down queen-size bed that just as easily tucks away to reveal a comfortable lounge-worthy space.

• Deluxe Studio Units (Standard View or Preferred View) - Sleep up to 5 Adults. The deluxe studios are perfect for couples or small families, featuring a kitchenette, a queen-size bed, and a pull-down queen-size bed and a pull down bunk-size bed that adds a touch of Disney magic.

• 1 (sleeps 5), 2 (sleeps 9) and 3-Bedroom (sleeps 12) Villas (Standard View or Preferred View) The larger villas come in one, two, or three-bedroom options, ideal for bigger families or groups. These villas boast fully equipped kitchens, washer and dryer, elegant living spaces, spa tubs, and private bedrooms for added comfort and convenience.

Disney’s Riviera Resort includes rooms available to guests with accessibility needs, including wheelchair-accessible bathrooms and rooms designed for the hearing impaired. Guests who require wheelchairs are encouraged to bring their own equipment or your Build A Better Mouse Trip travel advisor can help make arrangements with an Orlando-area vendor prior to arrival at Walt Disney World Resort.  Sharps containers are available upon request at no extra charge for guests who need to dispose of needles. Service animal relief areas are located in the grassy areas near the parking lots.

Disney’s Riviera Resort takes its culinary offerings to new heights, with a delectable range of dining options to satisfy even the most discerning palates.

• Le Petit Cafe (2nd Floor) is a delightful coffee shop where you can start your day with a perfect cup of joe and a delectable pastry. Dining plans not accepted.

• Primo Piatto (1st Floor) offers a delightful quick-service dining experience, serving up mouthwatering dishes inspired by the regions of France and Italy. From fresh sandwiches and salads to savory pasta and artisanal pizzas, this charming eatery has something to please every palate. Disney Dining Plans accepted.

• Topolino’s Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera (10th Floor), is a rooftop restaurant that serves Mediterranean-inspired dishes with breathtaking views at breakfast and dinner. Character dining experiences are a must for many guests and you’ll love interacting with Mickey Mouse and friends while enjoying your breakfast. This is a Disney Dining Plan Signature location at dinner which means it will require two table-service dining plan credits per person.

• Bar Riva (1st Floor), located poolside, is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy refreshing cocktails and light bites while basking in the sun and taking in the enchanting views of the resort's pools and surrounding landscape. Dining plans not accepted.

• Restaurants at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort within walking distance and there is a Joffrey’s Coffee stand at the Skyliner hub at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.

If this isn’t enough, it is a quick walk to dining options at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, or hop on the Skyliner and head to the Epcot resort area which has many more restaurant offerings.

Disney’s Riviera Resort Transportation

Disney’s Riviera Resort has a Disney’s Skyliner station that whisks riders away directly to to the the International Gateway entrance of Epcot and the Boardwalk recreation area or the main Skyliner hub at Disney’s Caribbean Beach where you can transfer to other routes that go to Disney’s Hollywood Studios as well as Disney’s Pop Century and Art of Animation Resorts.

Disney buses are available to take resort guests to the Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme parks, Typhoon Lagoon & Blizzard Beach Water Parks, Disney Springs and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. When the Skyliner is not running during regular transportation hours, bus service is provided to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot.

Complimentary transportation to the Disney World golf courses is arranged through the resort concierge desk. Guests must have a tee time reservation with confirmation number and transportation should be arranged the day prior to your tee time.
